 Currently the Lyric hearing aid is not designed for patients with severe hearing loss. It will also not help in an ear which has complete hearing loss. Presently the devices cannot be used in small ear canals or ear canals with certain anatomical configurations. While you can shower or bath you cannot swim with your head underwater. The device must also be removed before performing an MRI. The device can be removed by the patient in an emergency situation but it can only be replaced in the ear canal by an experienced health care professional trained in the insertion of the device. An office examination and audiogram will allow for us to discuss whether you are a candidate.
